Position Overview:

We are keen on welcoming a virtual paralegal who:

  • Holds expertise in Estate Planning- experience in probate, guardianship, or conservatorship cases is a plus.
  • Comes with a minimum of three years of Estate Planning experience.
  • Has been engaged in a law firm setting within the past six months.
  • Is technologically proficient, especially with Word, Excel, Adobe, and preferably with experience using a research database like LexisNexis, and cloud-based practice management software like Practice Panther or Clio

Equivity works closely with our clients to provide them with virtual paralegals who are experienced in their field and have successfully worked in a remote or virtual environment. Our rich portfolio possesses clients ranging from solo legal practitioners to multi-partner law firms across varied law specialties. You can expect to:

  • Operate with significant independence.
  • Be responsible for maintaining timely communication with clients Monday through Friday between 9am – 6pmPT with a close responsiveness commitment.
  • Experience the freedom and flexibility of working from the comfort of your home.

The selected paralegal will come on board as a W-2 employee (not a 1099 independent contractor), with availability starting at 20-hours per week and eventually ramping up to full time. The starting pay for this role is $27/hr.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of experience working in an estate planning practice
  • Proficient in working from checklists, forms, and templates to prepare trusts, wills, healthcare directives, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to estate planning
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficiency in legal software, apps and tools
  • Proficiency in legal research and using legal research tools like LexisNexis
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment
  • Experience using practice management software such as Practice Panther, Clio, PC Law, or MyCase
  • Availability to respond to requests within an hour during the hours of 9 AM - 6 PM Pacific, Monday – Friday.
  • Your own laptop and smart phone with broadband access to Internet
  • Quiet location in which to take phone calls

These skills would be a plus:

  • Experience with estate planning software such as Wealth Counsel, ForeTrust Hot Docs
  • Experience using practice management software like Practice Panther or Clio

Responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with attorneys to gather client information and assist in the preparation of estate planning documents
  • Utilize checklists, forms, and templates to accurately prepare and draft trusts, wills, healthcare directives, powers of attorney, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations related to estate planning
  • Assist in managing client files, including organizing and maintaining documents and records
  • Coordinate with clients and schedule appointments, ensuring efficient communication and excellent client service
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars and scheduling meetings
