Position Overview:

We are keen on welcoming a virtual paralegal who:

  • Holds expertise in Probate- experience in trusts & estates, trust administration, guardianship, or conservatorship in probate courts. 
  • Comes with a minimum of three years of Probate experience.
  • Has been engaged in a law firm setting within the past six months.
  • Is technologically proficient, especially with Word, Excel, Adobe, and preferably with cloud-based practice management software like Wealth Counsel.

You can expect to:

  • Operate with significant independence.
  • Be responsible for maintaining timely communication with clients between 9am – 6pm with a close responsiveness commitment.

The selected paralegal will come on board as a W-2 employee (not a 1099 independent contractor), with a minimum availability of 20 hours per week. The starting pay for this role is $22/hr.

Job requirements

  • Position requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of recent experience working as a paralegal in a probate law firm
  • Experience preparing pleadings, motions, petitions, and guardianship applications for a probate law office
  • Ability to review and understand wills and trusts
  • Experience corresponding with banks, businesses, insurance companies, brokerage firms, employers, accountants and others to collect asset information
  • Experience corresponding with creditors and debtors to obtain pertinent information
  • Experience preparing asset lists, inventories and accountings
  • Experience coordinating with CPAs and other financial professionals to prepare tax returns
  • Experience with estate planning and probate software, preferably Wealth Counsel
  • Experience using practice management software, preferably Clio, PC Law, or Serengeti
  • Expert proficiency with utilizing all programs within Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
  • Experience editing PDFs
  • Availability to respond to requests within an hour during the hours of 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday – Friday Eastern Time
  • Your own laptop and smart phone with broadband access to Internet
  • Quiet location in which to take phone calls
